RTE television Nationwide programme about the artist’s paintings and sculpture, with a particular focus on his Thomas Ashe limestone sculpture of the the 1916 Irish hero.
This little video will be of interest to sculptors who have not split stone horizontally before. Technically it is more difficult than creating a vertical split but I won’t bore you with the details , just have a look and if you need more info send me an email.
The first block of limestone is split !!!
MUCKY , FILTHY , DIRTY JOB …. but I just love it !
My son took this video of me using a diamond chainsaw to cut the limestone block being used for the Floraville Sculpture in Skerries.
It is a heavy lump of machinery but does a fine job as long as you are very careful using it.
Should be cracking the block soon to remove unwanted stone , keep your fingers crossed.
This is the location of my next Dublin exhibition , in September 2013. It will be held in the banqueting hall of Smock Alley .. a truly beautiful setting. The venue as you can see from the video is just opposite the Four Courts and beside the Dublin City Offices on Wood Quay.
